Start Now, Keep Going: The Motivation-Action Connection
Action is the spark that ignites motivation.
Outside of being motivated by fear, if you wait for motivation to brew before doing anything, you'll end up waiting around for a very long time.
It's easy to get stuck in a cycle of waiting for motivation to strike before we take action, but the truth is that taking small actions repeatedly and over time are what create motivation and momentum.
By taking action and starting now, we can create the positive consequences that lead to motivation and reinforce the behavior that produces them. Whether it's starting an exercise routine, eating in a more sustainably healthy way, or pursuing any other goal, the small actions we take repeatedly and over time can provide us with evidence of our progress and our achievements, and generate feelings of satisfaction and empowerment. That evidence is what gives us the positive reinforcement we need that motivates us to keep going, to continue taking action, and to achieve our goals!
We don't have to wait for a new year or a new week to start taking action towards our goals. Every moment is an opportunity to start now and keep going, one small action at a time.
